Update: Yahoo Music
will be selling itself to Rhapsody America by the middle of this year!
Rhapsody has over double the amount songs anyway. This is an attempt to
compete with Apple iTunes.
It’s easy to see why Yahoo! Music Unlimited is an award-winning music
download site. With the attractive combination of a seemingly
endless library of music and features such as the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, the site’s own
integrated music player, Yahoo Music was one of our favorite sites
to use. The Yahoo! Music Jukebox allows you to preview full
songs before purchasing. This integrated Jukebox also ensures high-speed
downloading, allowing you to download directly to your playlist of
choice.
In addition to the Yahoo! Music Jukebox, this site has a number of
other attractive features such as CD burning tools, multiple language
downloads and a full-featured playlist organizer making the download
experience as enjoyable and easy as possible.
One thing we noticed right away was the superb sound quality of Yahoo Music's downloads.
Downloaded songs are consistently of professional quality –
no bumps in the music or changes in volume like some downloaded songs.
Yahoo! Music Unlimited boasts a vast library
of music, with 20 intuitively organized music categories to easily
narrow the search process. In fact we searched for a number of
different artists, songs and albums, ranging from top 40 to indie and Yahoo! Music return with both exact matches
and similar matches. This site also offers the unique ability
to search by genre and sub-category.
The only drawback to this site is it is not compatible with
iPods. The site does, however, support all other types of
portable devices like MP3 players, CD players or handhelds. .
