1970’s was period of evolution and revolution. In every corner of the world they were public outcry for social and political reformation. It was also a period of Cultural Revolution. At that time most of the youth in that 20’s wherein a mood to spend money without any aim and most of them kept a pation for music and dancing. As a youth you are preparing to have a relaxing time keeping behind the week of work behind you and also the stresses of life you pretend to be a prince of the European country clad in the finest suits available and following and equivalent dress code. As if you are going to give a public speech.

You take almost an hour to set your hair right and you Jung in to the Chevy Nova owned by you and you go to pick up your girl friend. These kind of carefree youth and dare devils with no care attitude were common in the 1960’s but this attitude came to an end by the end of the said decade. There was a vast change in the style of cloths. The suits became more formal and got to be stitched to suit the size of the person. The hair style also changed with more contemporary looks and permanent curls. As in every other field, music also underwent a radical change. In the 1960’s music was as diverse as the societies then existence. It was a time when rock and roll became popular world wide and new musical hits sprang up every other day across the world.

Hippies were the bad boys of the 1960’s. The term hippie was evolved form the term hipster. This culture first came in to being in the 1940’s as a revolutionary one. The hippies loved music very much. The political uncertainty and revolutions that marred various countries inspired the music of that era and it became their theme song. In the 1970’s the taste for music underwent a radical change. A lot of experiments were made in the field of music and gradually music produced by various electronic instruments conquered the field. Synthesizer guided music thus developed and achieved popularity.

In England many music bands came in to exist buy playing a few pups in their city of origin. Even though most of these bands got some fans following in some remote countries like Libya, only very few bands made it to the top. Roxy music was one of the music bands that evolved in the 1970’s and made its way to the top. This band took ideas from a wide range of sources right from a student of art to a person who did not even a basic training in music. This band effectively made use of a synthesizer to popularize their music. This music band consisting of persons with different taste however had a good fan following. Like the group, the fans were also of different tastes and culture. Roxy music came in to existence in 1972. Their sound was known as avant – garde. Roxy music soon conquered Brittan and the whole of Europe. They had a strong fan following in South America also. This music band became a hit in the United States when they performed a John Lennon song.

Roxy music had mostly youth as their fans who went on to create a separate culture known as British Punk movement in the end of 1970 and in the beginning of 1980. You cannot however blame Roxy music entirely for this. If you can not recollect any of the songs of Roxy music, just listen to the punk based modern alternative rock and the top 40. It is certain that you will remember Roxy music while you next listen to your favorite radio stations.
