Reliable Music Download Sites : Free Music Downloads

I am having a problem finding reliable site to purchase music from. I am frustrated with iTunes locked files, stopping me from being able to take my mp3's to work or in my car or on my phone. MP3Sparks can never accept payment, which always blows my mind, but so be it.

What I want is a site where I can download high quality mp3s at a reasonable price (no more than iTunes, which are a bit steep), and then be able to play those mp3s on whatever media I have without having to trick them into being unlocked.

Please help me!
