Here’s a fast quiz for you. What time of year – more than any other time of the year – do people sing songs? Or most likely, what time do people stumble through songs and wish they had the correct music lyrics?
That’s right, it’s Christmas time! The time of year when office workers try and stumble through a verse of ‘Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick’ with no luck. The corporate Christmas party offers have drunken verses of ‘Up on the Housetop’ to the few who know the words. And we won’t even mention school and church programs, where the few hearty souls belt out the lyrics, while everyone else murmurs quietly in their seats. But who can blame a person, when there are only a few hundred different types of Christmas carols, popular songs and music lyrics to memorize. Easy stuff, right? Not so much in this hectic, frazzled life.
How could all of this ‘not knowing the words’ misfortune been avoided? By finding and printing out the music lyrics of course! Search online for the correct song and the lyrics. Print out the lyrics so you have them in front of you, or have to give out to whoever will be singing at your event. Books of song sheets are wonderful to hand out at large gatherings, then you know everyone will know the words and won’t have any excuses for not singing.
Then, go to your favorite music website, www.anymusicdownloads.com and find the corresponding song. When you have the music lyrics, you might as well practice a few times in the office or at school. If you can’t practice as a group, the music is free to download, so create a practice CD for everyone. You can even make an extra copy of those Christmas carols and save it as a gift for Grandma – she’ll love it!
So, now everyone has the music lyrics and the correct songs on CD. There is no reason why your holiday function – whether it is a party or a performance – won’t be wonderful for everyone involved. Sing loud, with the correct words!
